Hopefully you’ve seen the Oxytocin video by now, if not, take a look. And here are a few more production images and insights.
The most important aspect of this video was finding the right person to play the deranged female antagonist. The tone, the tension, the plausibility, they would all hinge on finding the perfect actress. The role required an Asian actress, which proved very difficult in Cardiff – the casting agency had no Asian actresses on their books locally. Not having the time or budget to organise a casting session in London, I instead put the word out on Facebook and amazingly up stepped Jiajia Lika Wu. She had the exact look I wanted. But had little acting experience, being a model instead. However, I just felt she was so right for the role that I took the chance and on the day she totally delivered the goods. Jiajia got the feel of the video exactly and conveyed just the right mixture of playfulness and menace.
