While at first it seems ambiguous as to whether the big guy will save himself by umping in the water after setting himself on fire, I think there is a clue here. The big guy is wearing a watch throughout the video, even on the same day as his 'suicide'. But before he douses himself with petrol, he took the watch off so it wouldn't be ruined when he ran into the water. Am I correct? I just noticed something after watching the video a few times.
