Triangular Artwork

This rather tasty poster for TRIANGLE is actually not getting used for the main promotion of the film, it’s just a little limited edition one (thanks Loidstar!).

Love the geometrical divisions of the poster that suggest triangles and the off-kilter angle of it all invokes the vertiginous nature of the whole film. As well as the doubling that goes on. I much prefer it to the main poster for the film, below, that’s all fine and dandy but doesn’t capture the spirit of TRIANGLE as well as the above one me thinks.

  1. well yeah the top picture mainly encaptures the idea of the film form the geometry of the shot, with the railings coming in at an angle, and the main photo being angled into an acute triangle. whilst the second picture is squared out and ruins the main basis of an advertisement to capture the essence of the film

  2. jamesy says:

Top one defo ! Check that rack out !

  3. Kaptin says:

the top one has that classic horror feel, however that also means it’s rather dated. I can see why they didn’t go with it. the bottom one makes it look like more of a quailty (trimmings not content wise) film and I have to say I prefer the look of it, but it would be more likely to put me off watching the film due to the sorry state of most horrors that have that kind of feel to their promotion… bugger it I’ll watch them both.

  4. You’re bang on there, Kaptin! Heard that the word from the production company was that the top poster looked too straight-to-dvd and they wanted to class it up. I guess I just like the trashy slasher aesthetic more than the serious sepia one.

  5. Oh and Jamesy, surprisingly for an 80s style horror, the rack doesn’t make an appearance. Not one shower scene. Is that a spoiler?
It’s either progress – feminism, or regression – conservatism. Not sure which.
