So last Friday, before another epic session at Matter, London Elektricity, Logistics and myself, took part in a special event at the British Music Experience at the O2 Arena – the first ever Q+A+E. Hosted by Radio 1′s Nerm, we each gave a little talk about how we approach making music, followed by questions from the audience about whatever they wanted. It was a lot of fun and I hope to do another session like this again. Video of the whole thing should be up soon.
The highlight of the event , however, came when a 15 year old guy asked if we thought ‘Drum and Bass Step’ would catch on in the UK after it’s popularity around Europe. To which we all replied ‘What the hell is drum and bass step?!’ Well, apparently it’s a dance craze – and we got the kid to come up on stage and give us an example of it. And hats off to him he smashed it! Check the vid.

What a lil legend! Although didnt see too much of that in matter to be honest. Think Europe can keep hold of that one and us British will just rave it out propa!
hang on a sec, those are exactly the same moves I was doing to jungle at his age!
Well, things move in cycles I guess! I’ve seen a few peeps bust this move over the years, especially in the States but apparently it’s got a name and everything now, so let’s call it a dance craze yeah? : ) And come on, I wanna see you post a vid of your DnB step now, Kaptin.
That kid was a legend. It was funny that we were all just as confused as you guys were on stage.
My review of the Q+A+E if you are interested: http://www.gibbertwitch.co.uk/2009/09/hospital-records-qae-at-the-bme-review/
Looks like a twist of the crip walk that was popular here in America. That kid has style and rhythm! Wicked!
hehe, x-outing. It’s smashing in eastern Europe.
At every dnb party or festival you would see a few dozens of people doing it
Righteous!
and a Q&A with DnB producers…nice one!
Man that is siiiick. Definitely none of that going on in matter!!! one of the best nights I have had EVER!!!!
I was doing that in ’93 when i was 16/17….learnt all my steps from Leeroy from The Prodigy, not personally but you get my drift.
